Jigsaw Sudoku - Free Irregular Region Puzzle Game Online
Jigsaw Sudoku replaces the standard 3x3 boxes with 9 irregular-shaped regions, each containing exactly 9 cells. Every row, column, and region must contain the numbers 1-9 exactly once. The unique region shapes create fresh solving patterns you won't find in classic Sudoku. Unlimited puzzles at three difficulty levels, generated instantly in your browser.
How to Play Jigsaw Sudoku
Jigsaw Sudoku follows the same basic principles as classic Sudoku, but with a twist: the nine 3x3 boxes are replaced by nine irregular-shaped regions. Each region, row, and column must contain the numbers 1 through 9 exactly once.
The irregular shapes mean you can't rely on the familiar box patterns. Instead, you'll develop new solving strategies as you trace the unique region boundaries. Our three difficulty levels — Easy, Medium, and Hard — provide a satisfying challenge for every skill level.

Tips & Strategies
Trace the Region Boundaries
Pay close attention to the colored region shapes. Unlike standard 3x3 boxes, irregular regions can stretch across rows and columns in unexpected ways, giving you unique elimination opportunities.
Look for Naked Singles
When a cell can only contain one possible number based on its row, column, and region, fill it in immediately. These "naked singles" often unlock a chain of other cells.
Use Pencil Marks
For harder puzzles, use notes mode to mark all possible numbers in each cell. Then eliminate options by checking what numbers already exist in the same row, column, and region.
Region-Line Interactions
When an irregular region overlaps with only certain cells in a row or column, you can use this overlap to eliminate candidates. If a number must be in a specific part of a region, it can't appear elsewhere in that row or column.
Controls

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Jigsaw Sudoku?
Jigsaw Sudoku (also known as Irregular Sudoku or Nonomino Sudoku) is a variant of classic Sudoku played on a 9x9 grid. Instead of the standard nine 3x3 boxes, the grid is divided into 9 irregular-shaped regions, each containing exactly 9 cells. Every row, column, and region must contain the numbers 1-9 exactly once.
How is Jigsaw Sudoku different from Classic Sudoku?
The only difference is the shape of the regions. Classic Sudoku uses uniform 3x3 boxes, while Jigsaw Sudoku uses irregular-shaped regions that vary from puzzle to puzzle. The row and column rules remain the same. The irregular shapes create unique solving patterns and require you to think differently about region constraints.
What do the difficulty levels mean?
Difficulty is determined by the number of pre-filled clues given at the start:
Easy
41 clues given
Great for learning regions
Medium
31 clues given
A solid challenge
Hard
23 clues given
For experienced solvers
What do the colors on the grid mean?
Each color represents one of the 9 irregular regions. Thick borders also outline each region. Every region must contain the numbers 1-9 exactly once, just like the 3x3 boxes in classic Sudoku. The colors make it easy to identify which cells belong to the same region.
